Editorial policy
Trusted Chronicle aims to make object histories easier to discuss and harder to overstate. We explain the basis for claims, correct errors openly and keep editorial work distinct from paid collaboration.
Accuracy and uncertainty
We check factual claims against suitable material available to us and take care to describe the limits of a clue. A mark, label, document or recollection may support one part of a story without proving the whole. We avoid presenting estimates, inferences or illustrative examples as established facts.
Independence and partner material
Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial arrangements. Paid articles, partner features and other material created through a commercial collaboration are clearly labelled as such. A partner placement does not mean Trusted Chronicle independently verifies every claim made by a partner.
Corrections
Readers can send a correction through the Contact page. Please identify the article and the passage, then explain the issue and share relevant supporting information. We review credible corrections and amend material when warranted, making important changes clear to readers.
Illustrations
Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence. Illustrations are not evidence of an object's provenance, condition or historical appearance, and we do not present them as documentary photographs.
