Write for us

Trusted Chronicle welcomes clear, carefully bounded proposals about object histories and the records people keep with their belongings. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a complete article without an invitation.

Ideas that fit

We are interested in pitches about provenance, record-keeping, object marks, documentation and the careful handover of an object's story. A useful proposal has a distinct subject, a clear reader question and a reason the subject can be explored without unsupported claims.

What to include

Explain the central idea, the kind of reader it serves and the main points the piece would cover. Tell us what information or source material you expect to use, where the limits or uncertainties lie and whether you have a commercial connection to the subject. Keep the proposal concise and specific.

Editorial approach

We value measured language, useful distinctions and examples that do not rely on invented personal histories. Pitches should not promise authentication, valuation or a definitive history from a single clue. Publication is not guaranteed, and ideas may be reshaped during editing.

How to send a pitch

Choose the editorial question option in the Contact form and identify your message as a writing proposal. Include a working title and a short outline. Do not send confidential documents or personal information about another person.
